IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG... - Duchess - 10-19-2014

...with having to show identification when you go to vote? I ask because I don't understand why anyone would fight against it or why it would call for the Supreme Court to get involved in deciding if it is wrong or not.

RE: IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG... - cannongal - 10-19-2014

I don't see anything wrong with it-You have to show ID for almost everything else in this country.

RE: IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG... - Carsman - 10-19-2014

ID is required (as it should be) to prevent some fools from trying to vote more then once in different districts, and to prevent illegal's (with big balls) from voting.

RE: IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG... - ramseycat - 10-19-2014

No. Nothing wrong with it at all.

RE: IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG... - Maggot - 10-19-2014

Not when they could get a free I.D. What's next letting inmates vote?

The only ones that would fight this are the fucking liberals who think anyone and everyone should be allowed to stay in the country...or think this is some type of Nazi era "show me your papers" thing.

Only if you're a Democrat.

Democrats like minority and poor voters a lot!

Personally, I have no problem requiring identification although I usually vote by mail. In one recent election, I filled out my husband's ballot, signed his name and sent it in too. He doesn't know it but we voted identically in that election. Smiley_emoticons_smile

RE: IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG... - QueenBee - 10-19-2014

No do not go lumping all us liberal Democrats into one pot. I have no issue with showing my ID when I vote...when I et stopped by the cops or whenever.
Fuck..I am 60 years old, have wrinkles and grey hair and still have to show my ID at the store to buy beer.

RE: IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG... - blueberryhill - 10-19-2014

Dear Sonny, aka "The Kid." Don't generalize by saying "fucking liberals." That hurts.....I grew up in a Republican family. We had some pesky orange/black insects back in Kansas; there were millions of them and they bit . My mother called them Democrats and to this day, I don't know the name of this bug. No, it wasn't a ladybug! She squashed them to death and called them Democrats. She seriously hated the Democratic party. When I learned to think on my own, I realized that I believed more in the Democratic platform so I began voting for that party. Remember when JFK died, we mourned as a Nation and it didn't matter how we voted. Just read that we are no longer the United States Of America, but rather the Divided States of America. It is sad...I am all for stiffer requirements to get visas to enter U.S. You don't belong here if you entered U.S. illegally. My bottom line is that I believe in equal rights for all citizens. Why does gay marriage scare the hell out of some people? Love is love. I think some just want someone or something to hate and that hate is overtaking our country like a cancer. I believe in the right to choose whether you want to terminate a pregnancy. I see nothing wrong with having to produce ID to vote. I have to show my ID to book airline flight, when I get a speeding ticket (only warnings so far but a lot of those), etc.
QueenB, I am much older than you, but I enjoy buying my booze at Walmart cuz they always ask for ID (lol) P.S. I have been trying glycolic acid for my wrinkles and dyeing my gray hair. O.K. bitches, I know what you are thinking, but it is, after all, my choice...
I also give credit to MLK for the rights which women enjoy today. It was just 10 years before I was born that women gained right to vote Women who fought for that right are also heroes in my eyes.
Added note: I believe that the President of the United States should be respected even if you don't believe in his policies. There is so much hate and venom out there. You are only allowed to that on Mock....

That is a great post, BH.

I laughed at your mom calling the bugs Democrats. hah

RE: IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG... - ramseycat - 10-19-2014

Why WOULDN'T ID be required to vote?

RE: IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG... - Cutz - 10-20-2014

Yeah there's something wrong... you don't need to have photo ID to be an American citizen. American citizens have the right to vote.

If you want to require a SSN or Birth Certificate or something to vote, that's cool with me.

I hate to disagree because I agree. hah

(Some) people can't be trusted to use their own identification.

I don't even much like voting any more. It's not like I'm voting for the best person for the job, I'm voting for the lessor of two evils.

I'm surrounded by Republicans and I love poking them with Hillary. Hehehe.

RE: IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG... - SIXFOOTERsez - 10-20-2014

At least Someone likes poking Hillary...

I have no problem at all with requiring photo id to vote for all the reasons posted above.
If your too fucking lazy to be bothered with obtaining a free id then we really do not need your input on who runs things.
And No, you do not NEED photo ID to be a US Citizen, but you do need it to buy beer, so use it to vote.

My state ID was not free. 18 year olds can vote but can't buy beer.

Uh, no, they don't.

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia made a point of emphasizing during the Bush v. Gore arguments in December 2000 that there is no federal constitutional guarantee of a right to vote for president.

At the moment, the constitution leaves it up to the individual states to decide which of it's citizens has the right to vote, and the states have varying criteria. (which is why the supreme Court upheld the Texas Voter ID law)

Another example, in New Hampshire people in Prison cannot vote, but in Maine, prisoners can vote.

There is legislation in the works to amend the constitution in effect of a guaranteed right to vote, but until that happens-you're wrong.

RE: IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG... - Maggot - 10-20-2014

WTF..........prisoners can vote? Now I've heard everything. The_Villagers

RE: IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG... - Cutz - 10-21-2014

Guess I stand corrected. I did know that states can choose to ignore the population vote since it's just a system for allocating state votes, but I certainly didn't know that prisoners can vote in some states.

RE: IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG... - IroningBroad - 10-21-2014

I think even illegal immigrants should have the right to vote and this voter id wouldn't be fair to them, because they live and work in this country like everybody else.

JUST KIDDING!! hah

But seriously what's the big fucking deal with having to have a special id to vote? People are dumb asses for getting mad over these voter id laws going into effect.
