STRANGE BUT TRUE - Duchess - 03-28-2015

This is inspired by Sally's comment to User regarding spraying Windex on her feet. I laughed out loud but strangely, believed it immediately.

If your radiator has a small leak you can plug it by pouring some cayenne pepper into your radiator. Yes, I understand that most people would get that puppy fixed properly but as a poor college student who preferred saving the money for partying instead of getting it fixed as her parents intended I speak from experience, it really does work and for quite some time.

RE: STRANGE BUT TRUE - FAHQTOO - 03-28-2015

There are a lot of weird remedies out there that really do work. I've heard about the cayenne pepper one also.

Soaking your feet in apple cider vinegar should get rid of the nasty fungus also.

Another use for the cayenne pepper is, put it on "cuts" to stop the bleeding!
It really does work, stops immediately, unless it's so deep that you need stitches.

Another use for cayenne pepper is to gargle it mixed with water when you have a sore throat. I've tried this before and it does work. It'll burn the shit out of you, but after a minute or so the burn goes away and no more sore throat.

Cayenne pepper is supposed to deter ants too. If that's not a proven fact, I think it WOULD work. Can't imagine the little buggers could handle too much of the stuff.

I tried this one. Didn't phase them even a little. Tried the corn meal ant remedy too. Didn't do a damn thing. Baby powder did the trick though.

I use the Orange Oil spray now and it works really well, doesn't smell like chemicals and won't poison the air. I spray it on them to kill them and then all around the areas where they're coming in. I let it sit for 10 minutes or so, wipe up the dead ones and so far, no more ants.

RE: STRANGE BUT TRUE - Maggot - 03-30-2015

If you take a tablespoon of baking powder and 12 cup of vinegar in your mouth and tape up your mouth it cleans out your nose and sinuses quick, don't swallow though. If you leave it in for 60 seconds your ears get clean too.

I will look into that soon. The piles are already forming on my side yard and these cutter ants have my cedar trees out front looking diseased. It's been a 3 year battle with them so far and I've only been able to moderately inconvenience them to date with the baby powder.

RE: STRANGE BUT TRUE - Maggot - 03-30-2015

Garden style Diatomaceous earth might work. or is that slugs?

It didn't work for the ants...

I use the orange oil inside but I'm not sure if an outside product exists (you'd think, right??). I don't know. I went to our local (small) hardware store this weekend though...I was looking for an outside lawn treatment for pests (for some reason, it's not ants but our lawn seemed to be infested with these tiny little spiders...). Blurg. Anyway, the only outside product I found was more toxic than I wanted but I hope I killed those little fuckers.

Yeah, you CAN buy it for the garden or make your own. From what I read of the pre-made products, it's pretty effective on ants. I guess some people use it to deter cats (who knew?). Apparently it doesn't work so well on cats though.
