Some of his best Real Time shows are when he has Ann Coulter on the panel. I disagree with almost everything Ann spouts, as does Maher, but they're long-time friends off-camera and pretty entertaining in debate. RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - Duchess - 01-30-2017 Popular thread. 25 pages. Almost 3000 views. Look at the crowd! It's YUUUUGE! RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - Duchess - 01-30-2017 I follow a bunch of Twitter accounts of journalists from several different media outlets. Shortly after the inauguration I saw some of them posting about rouge accounts belonging to those they think are scientists, rouge EPA, rouge NASA, rouge National Parks, etc. No one knows for sure who is doing it but they think it is scientists trying to save their data on their own time. Anyway, today I saw a new account referenced, it's from the WH, Rouge POTUS Staff. Hahaha! Take it for what it's worth - https://twitter.com/RoguePOTUSStaff RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - HairOfTheDog - 01-30-2017 Yeah, Gunnar, I'm hopelessly devoted to Bill Maher because I like his humor and his shows. I think twitter wars are idiotic, especially over serious matters. I'd advise Trump against engaging in them too. I'm not hopelessly devoted to Donald Trump either. Doyou think this extreme vetting is going to do any good in the long run other than just freak everyone out, which maybe that's his plan. I think he's full of more than pride on this one, personally. But, assuming it's just pride and a desire to make America more safe, his Executive Order was not properly vetted and just rushed through without consideration of how it would affect legal U.S. residents, the airports, the DHS, U.S. citizens residing in predominately Muslim lands, and Muslims across the globe (including terrorists). In my opinion. I agree with Lindsey Graham and John McCain, the Executive Order as it stands now could make Americans less safe. It appears that many in the U.S. State Department also share that concern. Snip: WASHINGTON—More than 100 State Department officials have signed a draft formal protest of President Donald Trump’s immigration and refugee order that calls his policy counterproductive to U.S. antiterrorism efforts and potentially harmful to U.S. interests, department officials said. The dissent marks an early challenge to one of Mr. Trump’s signature policies and represents a message of caution from one of the key parts of the federal bureaucracy that will be tasked with carrying out the new president’s vision. The State Department officials are expected to submit a final version of the cable, which is a formal, confidential form of diplomatic communication. The cable is part of a “dissent channel” the department maintains that constitutes an official vehicle for diplomats and officials to voice alternative views. http://www.wsj.com/articles/state-department-expected-to-issue-cable-protesting-trump-immigration-ban-1485790811 RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - Duchess - 01-30-2017 ...and at today's press briefing when Sean Spicer was asked about those State Department officials he said they could get with the program or get out. RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - Maggot - 01-30-2017 To bad they're not congress. RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - HairOfTheDog - 01-30-2017 (01-30-2017, 05:24 PM)Maggot Wrote: To bad they're not congress. Well, Senators Graham and McCain are indeed in Congress. Both also serve on the Armed Services Committee, and McCain is Chair of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. I wish the administration would simply listen to experts and vested/experienced parties, and make adjustments where they make sense so this Executive Order can possibly do some good without causing unnecessary harm. Accusing elected officials (by tweet) of trying to start World War III when they're clearly coming from the opposite place is non-sense. And, telling State Department officials to shape up or ship out for using the appropriate check-point channels to voice concern for Americans' safety........reflects very poorly on the Trump administration, in my opinion. I hope they get their ducks in a row soon. |
