From what I saw he praised the CIA many times during the speech and I don't think that was fake clapping and cheering as BB said. He did make some jokes about the media and congratulated himself a couple times, but he didn't go into it for minutes at a time or anything. That's his personality, I don't expect it to change.

Are you excusing the blatant lying as being acceptable because it's part of his personality? Are you aware that a week ago he compared the CIA to Nazi Germany? This isn't the campaign trail, this President and his administration work for the American people now. Words matter. These people look us all in the eye and lie...daily. Their new phrase is "alternative facts".

I don't care that you and some of the others believe what they tell you, I would never attempt to change your mind, you know I've always thought that everyone has the right to their own opinion and the right to express it.

When they lie, I intend to talk about it. Smiley_emoticons_smile

I was watching it while doing other things so I didn't sit there and listen to every word. What did he lie about?

I don't believe anything they tell me whether it's Trump or Hillary or any of them. Sometimes I just think people blow things he says out of proportion and I've felt the same way about Obama too in the past.

The "speech" was cringeworthy...if you are a thinking person, it would offend you. He was there to "repair" relationship with CIA. First of all, the place of the speech had special meaning to this agency because of the 117 stars honoring the agents who had died in the line of duty. Watching him was comparable to watching the awkward kid in school trying to give his first oral report in classroom....he was uncomfortable, insecure, and in "foreign" territory and didn't display protocol, i.e., honor, respect, praise and discuss unity, etc.....He did joke that they needed a larger room and he was behind them 1000 % and he did say a few words about the amazing job they do, he would ramble on about crowd size. His lies were that he blamed the dishonest media for saying he had a problem with the intelligence community and he denied that was a problem (although a week prior he had compared them to Nazi Germany).....then he attacked the media again for reporting that his crowd size was smaller than Women's March or Obama's inauguration and just couldn't let that go....the applause wasn't that enthusiastic. It was more of a "being polite" applause and I felt they had an applause meter (that was totally me saying that, no one else). I sensed the CIA were not appreciative of his self praise based on what a normal person would feel if patronized and had to listen to what a great guy he was.....Trump IMO does suffer from narcissistic personality to include being a pathological liar. ....and no, I am not a Doctor, but I do have a Master's degree (self praise, I know) in the mental health field.....
I think when I watch something so painfully apparent, I just expect everyone else to see it, too, but I love hearing your perspective because apparently there are a lot of people (well, not a lot, only about 32% approval rating now for Trump). I do not like it though, when his supporters say, "well, that is just Trump." He can't just be Trump anymore.....he has to quit thinking he is the smartest man in the World and he attracts the largest crowds in the World or see a Psychiatrist and get medications.
I wish he would get rid of Gov't waste and do something which benefits all of us, not just him and his rich buddies....He won't do anything which won't benefit him financially....there have already been reports of his wife's jewelry being sold on the President's web page so the taxpayers are paying to advertise Melania's line of jewelry....BullshitBullshit
Speaking of which, Obama received so much crap over the years, but most of it was not true. People said he was not a citizen, was a Muslim, etc.and stories reported by faux news web sites which were believed by many people....
.....and some of you still question why we don't believe Trump....It is not the media reporting, folks...Words are coming out of his mouth in front of you. Do you not hear that yourself? Media is not perfect but you can't ban them and expect to maintain a free society.
I also cringe when I see children watching this and actually witnessing this man lie, and yet he still became President. This is difficult to explain to a child...he is not the role model I want for my grandchildren....I won't go into all of his other negative characteristics...but these children see how he berates other groups of people and individuals.
He also blurted out in his speech to CIA we might be invading Iraq again to get the oil or words to that effect...I just think we all need to worry about this man and quit making excuses for him.

Some people blow things out of proportion and I check facts before accepting anyone's word.

Trump's different. He's often the one blowing things out of proportion and waging wars (those are his own words) with the media, groups, and individuals when he doesn't like the facts they report or their take on things. Trump and company will simply lie to create a narrative he/they like better and expect people to believe/accept it. Sadly, many people will believe it or just not care. Fortunately, most people don't believe such bullshit though.

While all politicians and administrations spin, outright lying about things that can easily be proven false as a matter of routine is another matter. I've not seen anything like it in this country. Kellyanne Conway defended it this morning by labeling 'lies' as 'alternative facts.' She made that comment on Meet the Press. I'm disappointed but not surprised; nothing has changed since the campaign.

Trump sent his press secretary to address the media yesterday in order to chastise them for reporting on inaugural crowd size. Trump had said that more people than ever in history attended his inauguration and watched globally. Both of those claims are blatantly false and no amount of ego-driven spin or lies will change that fact.

The fact that Trump cares so incredibly much about crowd size that he can't just accept that many fewer people attended and watched his inauguration than the inaugurations of some other Presidents, to the point of lying and having his staff lie about it as if all Americans are gullible idiots, is way more concerning to me than the crowd size itself.

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - sally - 01-22-2017

He lied about the crowd size hah. For shame. I guess I'll take more notice when he lies about something important, like Benghazi for example.

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - HairOfTheDog - 01-22-2017

Yeah, you missed the point again, sal. Lol.

It's one of Trump's hundreds of blatant lies that have already been proven and posted, a continuance of the campaign strategy which many hoped would cease once he took office.

I already said that the crowd size doesn't matter to me; it seems to matter immensely only to Trump. I know better than to expect YOU to worry or care about a President who routinely feeds false narratives to Americans and the world press in order to inflate his ego. That's fine.

You asked what he lied about. I answered and explained why it's disappointing to me and some others who are giving Trump a chance despite all of the concerns that arose during the campaign.

It is not about crowd size, Sally......Trump is obsessed about it and the whole world is discussing crowd size...no one gives a fuck about the crowd size, and that is the point. He is obsessing over this, however, and gives us a reason for concern.
He goes to the CIA hallowed hall to try to repair damage to their relationship......but he is too consumed with self aggrandization (former Director Brennan's word). to concentrate on healing former wounds and trying to establish a working relationship with CIA, Then he has his Press Secretary call a news conference to tell everyone the same lie....how can this happen in America? Is he going to call a Press conference every time he disagrees or gets mad? His speech to CiA should have concentrated on things like investigation into Russian hacking into and possibly interfering with our election, dealing with ISIS, etc....no, it was about crowd size (this is the symptom of the larger problem).

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - username - 01-22-2017

My local paper listed ALL of the lies he made during his speech. Stupid shit like it was raining and then the clouds opened for him (it wasn't). Then he said it rained when it was over (it didn't) and on and on. He denied ever insulting the "intelligence" community (note: the quotation marks have been how he has referred to them). It was a rambling, verbal, lying vomit.

He's a complete embarrassment and any of you idiots that actually voted for him should go sit in a Mock corner with your god damn dunce caps on. Jesus. I just hope he gets impeached or assasinated before he can do too much damage.

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - BigMark - 01-22-2017

He won, he is YOUR president. Get used to it.

11 Congratulations, you've got the President you deserve.

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - Misguided - 01-22-2017

Yep I like him. Hope he don't change.

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - username - 01-22-2017

It excites me to think of the number of intelligence folks who are probably looking and would LOVE to find some, if not illegal, excruciatingly embarrassing dirt on the guy. I think he's messing with the wrong people.

If he gets assasinated, I'll likely jump on the first conspiracy bandwagon. I'm sure there are members of the Republican Party wishing death on him; not to mention everyone but Russia and Israel.

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - Maggot - 01-22-2017

I believe it would have been a polarizing event no matter who won. When a country is divided in half the losing half usually raises hell. This time watching the Internets reaction it seems the losers appear to be more vocal than in the past. But it's not the first time. Other elections have been worse. Perception has changed, that's all. Almost defined as mob mentality.

I watched it again and he talked quite a bit about ISIS, way more than his over exaggeration of his crowd size or the dishonest media. He made a couple one liner jokes about it.

Also that comment he made prior "what is this, Nazi Germany" in no way equated to me that he was calling the entire CIA Nazis.

I don't think he is a good speaker, not at all. But I think you crazy people read way too much into it. It gives you some kind of sick satisfaction. Go do a stupid march or something so you feel better about yourself.

If you still want to debate this issue, then you are never going to accept a rational analysis of this "speech." Go online and visit several web sites to see what a collective group of opinions say about it and then try to make an informed decision. I think it is you who needs to go for a March to feel good about being a woman....let me roar...or whatever....If you can't see how childish he was in making this speech, then I just have to wonder........
