I disagree from what I know so far.Really? It seems completely plausible that Trayvon could have confronted someone following him... it's just as likely a scenario as Zimmerman confronting him. Being "TIRED" of being followed would imply that he was being followed for a significant amount of time. The facts are the call/fight/shooting all happened within 15 mins. To me that is NOT a significant amount of time. If someone was following me I would be inclined to turn around and ask why the fuck they were following me after about 30 seconds. Or Z might have confronted Trayvon. I think we're on the same page with the confrontation part... and I see your point about Zimmerman staying in the car. I still get hung up on the point that regardless of confrontation, Zimmerman ended up in a position where he had to defend himself. That's where it is going to get real sticky... because regardless of Zimmerman's actions up to that point, did he end up in a fight for his life? That jury is fucked trying to sort it out. That is the kicker. Whatever happened to a good old fist fight, though? Was deadly force really necessary? I'm not talking about the legalities; just babbling. RE: walking while black - LytoMe - 05-18-2012 I personally want to hear from this "bus" driver that was attacked by Martin. A jury will have to decide if the force he used to defend himself was appropriate. I think they have a tougher job of that because of the 2nd degree charge. I guess she should have stopped running and calmly asked him if there was some sort of problem. T ran. We know that much. If he finally confronted Z, I don't blame him (unless z was saying "hey, hi! I'm your friendly neighborhood watch guy...just wondering what you're doing". The way he sounded on the cellphone call doesn't support that though. Fist fights are so '70's! RE: walking while black - sally - 05-18-2012 (05-16-2012, 09:09 AM)ramseycat Wrote:(05-15-2012, 08:26 PM)username Wrote: LC, how much credence do you give that report? We? Do you own the insurance company or do you just answer the phone for them, dumbass? The last time I checked I was getting ripped a new asshole for commercial auto while my Allstate agent was vacationing in the Keys. RE: walking while black - HairOfTheDog - 05-18-2012 From what we know so far, 2nd degree murder looks like an overly aggressive charge, I agree. But, we still don't know what the prosecution has in terms of totality of evidence that might justify it. In alot of these high profile cases, we see the defense team leak information to the media that supports their position, while DAs and prosecutors typically hold their key cards close to the vest. I'm not convinced that the 2nd degree charge was inappropriate or a strategic move designed to encourage Zimmerman to plead down to manslaughter, yet. And if your premiums are high, it's because you have a shitty credit rating, tickets, accidents, criminal records....there are a lot of things that go into rating someone. My guess is, the prosecution would be ecstatic if they knew Z was going to serve even 1 year of prison time. I'm with you, in that I think they're looking for a plea deal, get Z in jail (even if for a limited time) and get this behind them. The reality is, Z's life really is fucked at this point. At least the life he's made if Florida. That'll never be the same for him again. Always looking over his shoulder and wondering. Even if I feel that he was jumped (or suckerpunched), he IS the one that decided to pursue on foot when he was told not to. For that part alone, he should serve some time. Christ, you're even an idiot at your own job. First of all, I don't work in underwriting so that isn't my area of expertise. I handle injury files. Second, all of the things I listed are still taken into account whether it's a personal policy or a commercial policy. And third, you have a shitty agent if they are trying to screw you over. YOUR FAULT for not shopping around. But I bet there is a reason they raised your premiums that much. Husband fail the drug test? RE: walking while black - Lady Cop - 05-18-2012 perhaps you guys could start an insurance discussion thread. RE: walking while black - Cracker - 05-18-2012 Does anybody else want to slit their wrists when the discussion turns to matters of insurance and Lean Cuisine for one? If Florida makes ANY charge stick, you might as well start setting out your belongings on the curb so they don't break your windows coming in to get it. |
