Police released new surveillance video clips but had little more to update their investigation into the disappearance of Timmothy Pitzen.
Timmothy Pitzen’s seventh birthday was October 18, 2011.
Timmothy’s mother, Amy Fry-Pitzen, reportedly took him out of school early May 11, 2011. Amy’s body was found in a hotel room May 14. Police said she had apparently committed suicide with a knife.
Investigators said they found Timmothy’s blood in the back seat of Amy’s 2004 Ford Expedition. The boy’s toys and personal items usually in the vehicle were gone when it was found.
Teams searched land along the Interstate 88 and Interstate 39 corridors but have not found any signs of Timmothy.
Police said there were no major breaks in the case as of November 18, 2011. Police did release surveillance video of Timmothy at the front desk of the Kalahari Waterpark Resort at Wisconsin Dells, and video showing Amy entering and leaving a Sullivan’s Foods store. A third clip shows Timmothy and Amy walking hand-in-hand through an elevator lobby at the Key Lime Cove resort.
A private forensics lab, contracted by police, released its findings that same day.
The forensic tests led scientists to believe the meadow where Amy’s SUV stopped was most likely in Lee or Whiteside County areas of northwestern Illinois, but other neighboring counties could not be ruled out.
Additional results from the forensics testing on Amy’s vehicle could come later.
