The Nanny Who would not leave

I'd be a caricature of a cartoon. Probably Yosemite Sam like I used to accuse Dick of being. Hahaha!

I'd be livid too, partly at myself for getting into that situation in the first place.

I understand people thinking they'd get her out one way or another, legal or not. But, IMO, that would have played into her hands and given her the potential lawsuit and settlement that she may well have been seeking. It still costs time and money (which these people seem to be short on, or else why recruit a non-waged, non-licensed, non-experienced...live-in off of CraigsList?), even if her potential lawsuit wasn't viewed as a strong one.

I don't know the specific laws in Australia and other states, but in California, they're very favorable to the employee and the resident, as opposed to the employer and the landlord. Nanny hadn't broken any laws and had already threatened the homeowners with elder abuse allegations.

So, while I'd be tempted to kick/drive her ass out, whatever it took, would instead deal with the frustration, play it cool, and follow the law so I wouldn't have to be dealing with that BS in court and for a longer duration.
