Because in the Socialist Republic of NJ the criminal's rights have become more important than those of the law abiding, home owning citizen. It gets even better when they throw in the race card - the liberals bend over backwards to make sure things are not done to disenfranchise the criminal!
Throw in a greedly lawyer or two who know how to twist the law and you - the law abiding citizen who only wants to protect themselves - are ripe for the pickin's.
