Whether or not he was a cop is insignificant. Sometimes grief and loss have a profound toll and a yearning to to make something disappear (denial). Perhaps it was a cry for help, an unwillingness to face what lies ahead. The thought that your daughter is a murderer who knows! I believe he was screaming for something! But in no way shape or form was guilty of anything or than perhaps he felt he wasn't a good enough parent? We'll never really know.
