A few years ago I watched an old movie with James Garner and Sally Field on cable with my mom, "Murphy's Romance".
I couldn't remember the title of the movie for this post and had to look it up. The review noted that Sally Field had to fight to get Garner in the role because the studio suits thought he had become a tv-only actor. They wanted Marlon Brando or Paul Newman.
Sally Field got her way and I thought Garner was really in good in it. It's worth the watch if you haven't seen it.
Field was also quoted in an interview saying her on-screen kiss with Garner was one of the best of her career.
