Better than pepper spray!
#14
Black = Daisy = our lil' puddin'. She's sweet as pie but has taken to savaging the older dog due to his increasing age and lower status in the 'pack'.

Daisy wouldn't even protect us she's so friendly! She will however attack the brindle if he gets aggressive with someone at the door. Aggressive meaning barking or wanting attention.
Daisy has lopped off a chunk of each of the Brindle's ears.

Daisy thinks the world is her for her and all the people in it want to be her friend. She will take a house guest by the hand and drag them to the closet where her treats are so they can give her some. She's selectively stupid and just all around adorable.

Brindle = Goliath = stinky. We rescued him from a very abusive family. I am his favorite person and at the age of 16 now, he will still give his dying breath to protect me. This is also Matt's dog. He came with Matt but since I'm home all day, alliances have switched.

Goliath does not give a crossed glance, he does not bristle, he does not growl nor show his teeth. He just interprets and acts. This is what makes him dangerous.

He is like this because he was abused by humans and me and Matt are the first people to respect him, treat him with kindness and not fear him. To him we are the next best thing since meat.

He IS a kind dog, he does have a few people that he respects and we trust with but for the most part, people see pit bull and instantly think they're going to get bit. Goliath is highly intelligent, more so than any dog I've met and he will pick up on your unease and continually put himself between me (or matt) and the "danger".
He's been professionally trained and will obey commands on a hand signal but his trainer would not guarantee that this dog would never bite no matter the training. This is because he does not give a signal and is highly overprotective of us.

This dog is like this because he was caged up in his own waste for the first two years of his life with abusive people who used to beat him, each other etc. He attacks arms and only arms.

If you go to shake hands, hug, or move toward me fast, he gets between us. If he does not know you, he'll go for the arm.

You can't be a stranger and put your hands hidden in a sleeve or pocket. He gets uneasy.

He's a perfect gentleman on a leash outside the home though! But it all comes down to his abuse in the first two years of his life. He just has no trust in people who seem "fidgety" to him.
He loves going to the vet, staying at the kennel when we go away (he loves the kennel owner) and car rides are his favorite activity.

He's now 16, waddles, lumpy, smelly, gassy and yet mentally alert and youthful. It's going to be hard to see him go. He's been the most loyal, gentlemanly dog I've ever had. Ever willing to please and a fast learner. I dont think there will ever be another dog like him. It's a shame those people fucked him over to the point I have to be always careful with him.
