The number of unarmed people being shot and killed in the US is on the INCREASE largely because of stand your ground laws.

You know, I'm skeered! Bang! You're dead!

But please continue to swallow the NRA jizz and spin and stop thinking for yourself!

I mean who needs facts when you can get whipped up by whatever Wayne LaPierre has to say on the subject?

I don't rely on the NRA, because they are too one sided. What they say is biased. I rely on my own fact finding... for example:

I think the Department of Justice using Centers for Disease Control data provides fairly accurate statistics, don't you?

In case you aren't interested in reading, here are some of the highlights:

* Firearm violence has decreased 39% since 1993
* Non-fatal firearm crime has declined 69% since 1993

* During the time 2007-2011, less than 1% of victims in non-fatal violent crimes report using a firearm to defend themselves! (Oops, there goes the narrative about people just shooting other people willy nilly!)
