It's so motherfucking hot here too, Florida has nothing on this place.

Graffitti is art, or it can be, there's a graffitti artist called Banksy in the UK who is now a millonaire.

I'm not sure “suck my dick” is his milieu though.

The suck my dick one wasn't anything to write home about, but some of the others were pretty impressive. I don't even know how they got to the top of a 300- 500 ft. building and did it. It looks like they would have needed scaffolding or something.

It seems Detroit's impressive art collection might be liquidated to satisfy creditors.

Art for art's sake . . . money for God's sake!

Well, that's looking like an even more accurate analogy with today's news that "what to do about Detroit" may be decided by the Fed, with Supreme Court decisions which could affect a lot of other cities in dire straights.

Now, city workers who were smart or lucky enough to be gainfully employed during the city's economic decline may lose their pensions.

IDK. Hopefully, there are some very smart economists and planners behind the scenes to develop a strategic rehabilitation plan for Detroit. Scares me to think that there will be a quick fix bail out to address a problem decades in the making; a bail out which may not promote future stability (or prevent the same mismanagement from causing another meltdown 10 years from now).

I am waiting for the tipping point when this happens to the entire US economy and rolling financial insolvency manifests itself like a rolling power blackout across the USA..

I think only the union heavy cities and democrat run cities will be a bit messy but they will survive. Detroit needs to be razed and some good capitalist come in and turn it into a huge amusement park or a gambling city with all the people there turned into service workers catering to the customers. No amount of money will fix it that's for sure.

I would say scrap the houses for copper and steel but I'm sure they have already been raped of anything essential.

There's no money & some pensions may be lost but they are going to build a new arena. Does that make sense?

A state board on Wednesday unanimously gave the go-ahead for a new Red Wings hockey arena in downtown Detroit to be paid for in part with tax dollars as the broke city works through bankruptcy proceedings.

Considering the political mindset there, some polititian will have a nice fat bank account soon, or a relative of one.

Jesus, in the midst of Detroit's crisis, what are leaders and policy makers there debating? Yep, the Zimmerman case.

There's a time and place for those discussions, but it's probably not while the city is going under and quick action is required by those elected to office, imo.

Focus, people.

Corrupt POS gets flushed...

Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been sentenced to 28 years in prison for corruption that turned city hall into a pay-to-play parlor.

Kilpatrick was convicted earlier this year of two dozen crimes, including racketeering conspiracy, bribery and extortion. There was evidence of shakedowns, kickbacks and strong-arm tactics to reaped tens of thousands of dollars and other benefits from people who wanted city business.

The 43-year-old Democrat served as mayor for nearly seven years and quit office in 2008 after a different scandal involving sexually explicit text messages and an extramarital affair

Prosecutors said in a court filing last week, "He created a 'pay-to-play' system for the provision of city goods and services, which compromised vast swaths of city government, including the water and sewer system, the convention center, the pension system, casino developments and recreation centers," adding, "City government essentially became up for grabs for the right price."

The U.S. Attorney in Detroit also wants Kilpatrick and his co-defendant Bobby Ferguson to pay $9.6 million in restitution, according to the station.

Yeah, you're probably right.

Still, good to see some of the most blatantly corrupt politicians like Jackson Jr. and Kwame being prosecuted and spending time behind bars.
