Spring?

When do you plant flowers? In NY we would do it Memorial Day weekend. But since it gets warm here so much earlier I don't know when a good time to start. I'm going to get flower boxes that hang on the deck rail.

Give it another 2-3 weeks, Ramsey. Your last frost date is around April 10. You don't want to invest in a few flats of flowers only to lose them to a late frost.

I was thinking middle to the end of April. I'll ask around too and see what people say.

Are you familiar with planting zones?

What are you intending to plant? I'm only curious cause I am dying to sink my fingers into potting soil. I really like overflowing planters bursting with color. I don't ever follow the rules of planting so many inches apart.

Not really. I'm going to ask what grows well when I go to the nursery. I love having lots of flowers. I'm going to have 5 or 6 boxes on the deck rail. A pot on the front porch. And then in the flower beds along the front of the house.

What are you planting? You can just say colors if you want.

Roses do the best for me, they bloom all year long here. I have a few different types and the mini ones work well in planters. Knock Out roses are also very hearty and low maintenance, here in Florida anyway.
