Not so much these days because there IS a risk that the drunkard will come back later and cry rape but absolutely that used to be a common occurrence and even a joke. Get her liquored up and get her in bed.

If I were the sexual aggressor these days, I'd probably only feel comfortable having sex with an intoxicated person if they'd signed a written consent form prior...with witness signatures. Women (in particular) have lately abdicated responsibility for how drunk they get and what happens under those circumstances (in some cases). It's not right IMO. If no one is slipping you drugs without your knowledge and you "come to" some morning with a stranger next to you...I'm sorry, you fucked up! Too much is expected of guys (mostly) these days. Should I slap her a couple of times to make sure her garbled "yes" was really a YES? It's ridiculous.

I'm just saying that some of those women don't sound like innocent schoolgirls and I don't think it's unreasonable to question their credibility or why they're just coming out with it now.

Because they need to tell someone. Keep something like that inside for your whole life and it eats you alive.

It eats some women alive. Some women would think "damn, I was naive" and "I should have reported what I believed was rape" at the time but..I didn't. Time for me to move on....

Yeah, for 40-50 years, it's no problem, but their whole life, it'd eat them alive.

There are a lot of good replies here and I like that there is a place to discuss this stuff with less vitriol and more reason. Just saying.
Speaking for myself re:drugging vs. alcoholic lubrication- I have never enjoyed or encouraged a girl getting loaded to be with me and in fact know several occasions where it lessened or ruined the experience for me and one or two times I actually ended a "sure thing" date because she wanted to get drunk before fucking. I always kind of see it as a personal rejection if somebody has to be blasted to see me naked. But that's my neurosis.

Meanwhile, here is a real life change of conditions for discussion. I think we all can agree that rufies->uunconscious sex=rape, but how about this?

Worldly and drug - using man meets naive innocent farmgirl, sweet talks her and woos her into a romantic tryst, but slips large doses of amphetamines in her drink before having his way with her. The amphetamines act as a wild aphrodesiac, the sex is every incredible fireworks story she's ever heard and lasts hours. Which he does again and again until she thinks it's true love soul mate fairytale stuff. This continues for months or even years as he drugs her secretly to loosen her compliance for his kinked desires. Eventually by the time she figures out the drug connection she is hooked to both lifestyle and drugs.

Is it rape?
Thank god I am oblivious to the opinions of others while caught in the blinding splendor of my own cleverness.

I think if they fuck each other senseless for years, vitamins or not, and come to that result, she figuring out the drug connection, you might call it a Hillibilly relationship but not necessarily rape.

From my side I just can't get it what would be good in having a woman blacked out, or close to it, for sex. I wanna get fucked, not do the Mummy!

Well, enough strange kinks in this world that I don't get.

You're normal. You want to have sex with another person because it feels good.

Cosby, and other predatory rapists, get off on taking the choice away and having total power over the other person. The person they're fucking is just an object to be overpowered and used.

That's why he targeted people who were young and poised himself as a father-figure and mentor, often gained the trust of their parents in advance, and rendered them unconscious so he could do whatever he wanted to them, not with them, then head-gamed them afterwards.

There are probably a couple of women who've jumped on the bandwagon, but those leeches don't distract me from the fact that Bill Cosby raped scores of women with impunity for years and went to great lengths to do so.

I have no doubt that Cosby took advantage of the legal systems' challenges in prosecuting familiar-offender rape. He benefited from the victims' confusion and insecurities and counted on the victim-blaming mindset that still lingers in some people. He leveraged his fame and his crafted public image to get away with drugging and raping unconscious young women even though he was in a position to have consensual sex with scores of beautiful women; the "non-consensual" part is the turn on for rapists.

Cosby was forced to answer for incapacitating women in the 2005 deposition. He told the interviewer that he tended to refrain from normal sexual intercourse because that would seem romantic to the impressionable young women with whom he wanted to have sex and he didn't want them to fall in love with him. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/19/arts/b....html?_r=0

I think Bill Cosby is a vile and narcissistic con man. And a serial rapist. The fact that he played the ideal father on a tv show is surreal but doesn't make him more entitled or less culpable, to me.

Through strength in numbers against a very powerful man, the women have made their voices heard, including the ones who were told by doctors and lawyers and LE way back when that they had no hope in trying to hold Cosby accountable for what he did to them. The women may not be perfect victims and the outcome may not be perfect justice, but the fact that Bill Cosby has been outed and disgraced is a befitting overdue ending to his career and his con.

It depends strongly on the definitions of the legal system. I think anyone can admit that it's wrong.

Rape is pretty cut and dried when consent is not given. Either actively declined or unconscious and unable like Cosby. Both are clearly rape. What you describe is a matter of coercion. It's a much murkier legal case. Secretly drugging a person is going to be a crime, but coercion is not always.

If a couple is dating and the girl say no, and the guy says, "Come on, you've been making me wait for weeks, I'm tired of waiting. If you won't sleep with me, I'm breaking up with you." That's coercion. She may say yes at that point, but it's coerced consent. Not actual consent. You'd still have a pretty difficult case prosecuting him for rape. But again, most people will admit that it's wrong to pressure someone into sleeping with you. Both parties should be excited and engaged in physical contact.

If a guy takes a girl out for dinner and to see Eat, Pray, Love and tricks her into thinking he's a sweet guy, when really he's just maneuvering to get her in bed, we can easily call him an asshole. I wouldn't call him a rapist. Guys that liquor girls up so they'll make a mistake sleeping with him are assholes. I still wouldn't call them rapists. I think men or women that force intercourse upon an unwilling person are such criminals that I wouldn't want to water down the term "Rapist" with guys or girls who are just assholes.

Hair, re post #389, well said......

Some of the people who still support Cosby I think just forget that rape is not about sex, it is about power and there was and Cosby gets off on the power. He " sized" up he potential victims just like a bona fide predator....

Many victims do not report sexual assault for fear of being judged (hmm....wonder who would do that?), embarrassment, i.e., they were drinking, they went to his room, etc....they were naive, etc.....so they keep quiet.....yes, for years and years, and then they hear a woman talking about their experience and they say, "hey, that happened to me, too." It wasn't me being paranoid, it really happened. It becomes safer for the victim to speak out since she realizes she isn't alone any longer....Her speaking out is her way of dealing with the injustice of it. It doesn't have to involve money, fame, etc.....and you don't even have to like some of the victims, but you gotta understand that lonely feeling of being alone with what happened to you.
You can't always attribute a devious motive to these victims, and some suggest just moving on....Yeah, most of them did, move on, but there is still that feeling of wanting justice and someone to believe you.....and like we have said before many time, there is safety in numbers.....
I agree with those who call him a sociopath......

Not to make light of a very serious situation but I can think of quite a few men who would love to have a woman be sexually aggressive with them.
