BITCHFEST -- THE EXTREMISTS ON THE FAR LEFT AND FAR RIGHT
BigMark, are you still pretending to be a Trump supporter? I get that you were doing reverse psychology to be comedic. But clearly you are not a supporter, which says to me that you have some intelligence, I don't know how much, I do not know you that well.

Don't you think Kanye West looked a fool on Jimmy Kimmel. I mean, he is filthy rich, to hell with the rest of the black people he is treated like a white person now and racism doesn't affect him.

Oprah has been adopted into the white community as their own. However, she has not forgotten her roots she is vigilant in righting the wrongs and giving back. She does God's will and does what she is required to do. So powerful.

Why do black and white people HAVE to be antagonistic to each other?
Treated like a white person? Why not just treated like a person?
I think if you see a person's skin colour you have no idea what they are like as a person. You do not know if they are good bad or indifferent. You have no concept as to what their dreams hopes or views are. How is more or less black than Oprah. What do you mean by her roots?
If people were the sum of their "roots" then what would most older families in Australia do? Think how our Irish ancestor;s were treated by the British here? Think of the servitude and Choleric conditions of the trip from England our convict ancestors had. Yet what do we do with those roots? Whine that our ancestors were assaulted, chained, burned and worked in the hot sun for no money building the colonies? No, it was bad but it was back then and we are where we are now despite our roots and they are not so closely bound to our identities that we must be chained to them. You are not suggesting this is a good thing to do are you or that Kayne not doing so and treating people like people regardless of skin colour is a bad thing are you?

Fry, I heard the black community are going to disown him because they feel betrayed. You don't side with a man that has sabotaged and attacked your people. As LeBron said, the reality is, when you are a person of colour there is no escaping racism in the USA. Trump is polarizing this problem and making racism acceptable and these groups are becoming more emboldened and dangerous.

Yes in an ideal world people are people. It is certainly that way for me, but that's not how it works with racists.

That Donald Trump?

Look I get it! I honestly do. Which Ring wing American  political leader have the Left NOT smeared as racist? How far do you have to go back? And let's be real, the way he speaks is pretty course and lacks any nuance and so it is pretty easy to read racism into things he says and to ignore anything he has said or done that is counter. I mean it is lazy and intellectually dishonest to do so but you could.

I do think that he is probably no better nor worse than any egotistically privileged over achiever not used to having to parse their words or be held overly responsible for them. But that does not make him racist.

How has Trump sabotaged black people as a people? How is Trump making racism more acceptable?

FRY, the media does not acknowledge any of the good that Trump has done for minorities because it simply does not fit their agenda, period. I personally do not think Trump is racist, if you look up the stats for his hiring policies in his hundreds of companies the numbers certainly do not point to racism. His public policies to not say racism. Simply because the policies he touts happen to apply to people of color does NOT mean racism. Specifically his policies on border security, his policies affect my everyday life there. I married a Canadian citizen, white girl, has her own income and needs nothing from me or my country, BUT, we are dealing with a Mountain of paperwork, investigations and all kinds of bullshit just to get her residency so she can live here with me. Those same policies apply to everyone from all the predominately white populations of the world. France, Italy, Great Briton, Russia or wherever. So I do not want to hear it from the folks that say just because Trump wants to exclude ALL illegals that makes him or me racist, its a lie. He was not a racist at all until 2015 so what changed?
All that said he is not a guy I would hang out with and be beer buddies, he is probably a colossal jackass, maybe not, but thats the impression I get. He is one of the few "Famous" people I would walk across the street to meet though.
To all the nay sayers, just honestly look at the numbers on the economy, employement, food stamps, welfare...
Now try and tell me he is not the right man for the job

Fortunately, there was no significant violence in Charlottesville or DC this weekend.

There were hundreds of police in Charlottesville, where Heather Heyer's memory was honored and activists denounced racism and hate.

There were thousand of LE officers in DC where the white supremacists from Unite the Right were permitted to hold their second annual rally near the White House.

Only around 30 of the racists showed up and the main speakers didn't show.  However, over 1,500 counter-protestors (pictured above) turned out , including individuals of all races, Black Lives Matter, Antifa, Communist advocates, etc...

Was there any assaults, property damage or the like? From which side?

You can look up that information with a simple Google search, FryGuy.  But, I went ahead and did it for you.

There were four misdemeanor arrests reported.  From what I can ascertain, three were protesting the Unite the Right group and one was a member of Unite the Right.

None of the arrests was related to property damage and no serious violence or injuries occured, which is fortunately a big improvement and relief as compared to last year.

Clockwise: Jesse T. Beard, Martin E. Clevenger, Veronica H. Fitzhugh, Chloe J. Lubin were arrested on Sunday.

Some of the demonstrators and protesters were reportedly openly opposed to the heavy police and media presence.

Those snowflake white nationalists got a police escort and then left before the rally was scheduled to begin. It was very bizarre to see so many of them hide themselves under helmets and masks, some even dared to use the American flag to hid their identity. They promoted this rally for awhile yet not many showed up.

HOTD -Yes disregarding the police wont not to charge people, there was a lot of voilence and such. It was not a peaceful protest. The Extremists leftists were there in force and behaved very badly.
You know what would have been even worse? More Extremists on the Right or Left.

Duchess - That is because they are weak. They do not want to own their poisonous actions or points pf view or be held accountable for them.
This is incidentally why factions like Antifa wear masks and why the KKK did in bygone days.

I'm never going to be okay with those who promote fear & discord. They present themselves as better than a great deal of society, they aren't, not by a long shot. It's sickening the way they hide and revolting the way they used the American flag.

I don't know why you guys are acting as if you're presenting some counterpoint. Of course there were some violent idiots in the crowd, there almost always are when there are opposing sides at the same site. No one has claimed otherwise.

As noted upthread, Antifa has a strong anarchist element and they often don't hesitate to physically confront supremacists and sometimes police.

As of this morning, police had confirmed three leftist protesters and/or Antifa members had been arrested for provoking violence. Good.

This afternoon Charlottesville Police Chief RaShall Brackney gave an update at a news conference, joined by leaders from other agencies involved in the immense law enforcement response. The one-year anniversary of last year's deadly rally saw worship services, vigils and protests that were largely peaceful but tense at times.

Brackney gave an update on the number of arrests from the collective LE agencies at the site: 8 people were arrested in Charlottesville over the weekend, including one person who was arrested twice.

Police previously noted that one officer was assaulted after approaching a man whose face was covered. This afternoon Brackney added that two other officers were punched by a woman who was then pulled away by her friends. No suspects were in custody, but Brackney said investigations were underway. I hope and suspect that those involved will be identified and charged.

According to the reports released so far, there was no significant property damage and no significant violence. No one was killed, and no one was seriously injured and hospitalized this weekend -- which the police consider a positive thing (as do I).

As for the DC rally and counterprotest, the police chief there told the press that only one person was arrested.

Police essentially shielded the 20 or so white nationalist demonstrators from several thousand counterprotesters.

Police Chief Peter Newsham called it “a well-executed plan to safeguard people and property while allowing citizens to express their First Amendment rights.”

Police also had a tense standoff with about 150 masked antifa protesters who marched through the area blocking traffic after the white nationalists left.

No use of force or tear gas was reportedly required or invoked.

Again, the fact that people were not arrested in number is not necessarily indicative that it was relatively well behaved, calm, peaceful or that the violence was isolated or anything like. I feel you are trying to make that case and it seems partisan.
The Antifa and their associates were violent and thuggish.
That said that in no way excuses the couple of dozen white supremacists. They are scum too.
Personally I would love all these extreme leftist thugs and right wing extremist thugs to be rounded up and given all the weapons they need and contained in an isolated valley somewhere and set them at each other......then drop a bomb on the survivors.
Nothing redeemable with either group.

When I want to make a case, I have no problem stating it directly and going about presenting it FryGuy.

I'm not making a case on this one. I didn't claim or suggest that everyone was peaceful, or that there were no violent idiots in the crowds, or that lack of arrests meant that all in attendance were perfectly behaved. It doesn't matter if you 'feel' like you can read my mind or how many times you imagine, project and imply something that isn't there -- you're wrong.

What I DID say was that there was no significant violence or property damage reported at this weekend's rally and protests, which I consider a good thing and a relief. That, along with updates and quotes from the law enforcement and mayors who've expressed the same relief that significant violence and damage did not occur again this year, is what I feel and what I've posted. That's all there is to it.

You insist that the events were generally violent ones and that lack of more arrests is because police didn't want to arrest people. That's the case YOU put forth. It's not necessary to create a counterpoint to a point I never made in order to make your own case. If anyone here agrees or disagrees with your case, they'll engage with you about it if they're so inclined.

There are at least five outright lies in this post.
