3-Year Cicadas Invade Mid-State

Posted: May 09, 2011 2:49 PM CDT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - After a 13-year long nap, thousands of cicadas are now awake and likely in your backyard.

The last time we saw this brood was in 1998. Bug experts said the cicadas typically emerge in May, begin making that singing sound a few weeks later and then start mating and laying eggs.
