missing mom and newborn. GA
#1
if she hasn't been seen and just gave birth in hotel, where did photo of baby come from? who took it? was it left in hotel room? i have to go look for more on the story.

AP
AUSTELL, Ga. — Police in Georgia are searching for a woman and her newborn baby, both of whom have not been seen since Saturday afternoon.

Cobb County Police Sgt. Dana Pierce said Sunday that 27-year-old Holly Daenette Parker-Heard and the infant were last seen at the Austell Inn and Suites.

Pierce says investigators believe the woman gave birth inside the hotel room Saturday. Fresh blood apparently from the birth was found on bedsheets and the mattress, which led hotel workers to call police. However, there were no signs of foul play.

The primary concern for police is that the woman and her baby have not gotten proper medical care since the child was born. Pierce says it is not clear who may have been with Parker-Heard at the hotel.

a little more from AJC:

It's unclear if she left on her own or was taken away, police said, but investigators believe Parker-Heard may have enlisted the aid of a midwife to deliver the baby in one of the Austell hotel rooms, Cobb County Police spokesman Dana Pierce told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

"Hotel staff found blood-soaked linens and the mattress was contaminated with blood," he said.

Investigators have contacted relatives from both in and outside the state, and have ruled out the chance that her ex-husband, who was not identified, is a suspect.

Police believe both mother and infant could be in danger.

"You have a newborn that may not have been to a hospital to receive treatment," "You can see how that's a problem."

Police are circulating photos of Parker-Heard and of her daughter, that she apparently sent to her mother via a cell phone, Pierce said.

boy, there is a lot more to this story! i wonder if mother was selling the baby?

edit to add: He declined to say if the mother is suspected of any wrong-doing.
"I'm not going to get into specifics [of whether] this was a business deal," Pierce said.

A mother who disappeared hours after giving birth and her missing newborn daughter have been found safe, at different locations, and now police have charged the midwife and a 39-year-old man with kidnapping them.

Police spokesman Dana Pierce said Monday Holly Daenette Parker-Heard, 27, was found at a Cobb County house Sunday afternoon, and a series of tips led them to a house in Carrollton where they found the infant and Rebecca Mclarty, the 39-year-old midwife who had delivered her.

Mclarty is in the Carroll County Jail on charges of kidnapping and cruelty to children. A lookout has been posted for Christian Turner, whom Pierce called a "co-conspirator.

"The mother's fine. The infant's fine," Pierce told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

A strange series of events began Saturday afternoon when Parker-Heard allegedly delivered her daughter at the Austell Inn and Suites at 7377 Riverside Parkway in Austell. Police believe she delivered at the hotel with Mclarty's help some time Saturday.

Police were called after "hotel staff found blood-soaked linens... The mattress was contaminated with blood," Pierce said.

Police also were alarmed because it was unlikely either the mother or the baby received medical treatment.

The mother was found at an "undisclosed" location in Cobb County Sunday afternoon. She was "taken to a hospital and she is reported to be fine," Pierce said.

"She told us the last she knew… the infant was at an address in Mableton Ga.," Pierce said. "We went there and we did not find the infant or the male resident, 39-year-old Christian Turner. He is on the run and believed to be in route ...[to] Montgomery, Ala."

But subsequent tips were that the infant and the midwife would be found in Carrollton and that is where the midwife was arrested.

Turner is believed to be driving an white 2000 Ford F150 pickup, license No. BWA7432.

An arrest warrant has been issued. The charges against Turner also are kidnapping and cruelty to children.

It was not immediately known if the baby and mother have been reunited or why they were taken.
