Why AIDS sucks:

Infections common to HIV/AIDS:
Tuberculosis (TB).
In resource-poor nations, TB is the most common opportunistic infection associated with HIV and a leading cause of death among people living with AIDS. Millions of people are currently infected with both HIV and tuberculosis, and many experts consider the two diseases twin epidemics.
Salmonellosis. You contract this bacterial infection from contaminated food or water. Symptoms include severe diarrhea, fever, chills, abdominal pain and, occasionally, vomiting. Although anyone exposed to salmonella bacteria can become sick, salmonellosis is far more common in people who are HIV-positive.
Cytomegalovirus (CMV). This common herpes virus is transmitted in body fluids such as saliva, blood, urine, semen and breast milk. A healthy immune system inactivates the virus, and it remains dormant in your body. If your immune system weakens, the virus resurfaces — causing damage to your eyes, digestive tract, lungs or other organs.
Candidiasis. Candidiasis is a common HIV-related infection. It causes inflammation and a thick white coating on the mucous membranes of your mouth, tongue, esophagus or vagina. Children may have especially severe symptoms in the mouth or esophagus, which can make eating painful and difficult.
Cryptococcal meningitis. Meningitis is an inflammation of the membranes and fluid surrounding your brain and spinal cord (meninges). Cryptococcal meningitis is a common central nervous system infection associated with HIV, caused by a fungus that is present in soil. It may also be associated with bird or bat droppings.
Toxoplasmosis. This potentially deadly infection is caused by Toxoplasma gondii, a parasite spread primarily by cats. Infected cats pass the parasites in their stools, and the parasites may then spread to other animals.
Cryptosporidiosis. This infection is caused by an intestinal parasite that's commonly found in animals. You contract cryptosporidiosis when you ingest contaminated food or water. The parasite grows in your intestines and bile ducts, leading to severe, chronic diarrhea in people with AIDS.

Cancers common to HIV/AIDS
Kaposi's sarcoma.
Kaposi's sarcoma is a tumor of the blood vessel walls. Although rare in people not infected with HIV, it's common in HIV-positive people. Kaposi's sarcoma usually appears as pink, red or purple lesions on the skin and mouth. In people with darker skin, the lesions may look dark brown or black. Kaposi's sarcoma can also affect the internal organs, including the digestive tract and lungs.
Lymphomas. This type of cancer originates in your white blood cells. Lymphomas usually begin in your lymph nodes. The most common early sign is painless swelling of the lymph nodes in your neck, armpit or groin.

Other complications
Wasting syndrome.
Aggressive treatment regimens have reduced the number of cases of wasting syndrome, but it does still affect many people with AIDS. It is defined as a loss of at least 10 percent of body weight and is often accompanied by diarrhea, chronic weakness and fever.
Neurological complications. Although AIDS doesn't appear to infect the nerve cells, it can still cause neurological symptoms such as confusion, forgetfulness, depression, anxiety and trouble walking. One of the most common neurological complications is AIDS dementia complex, which leads to behavioral changes and diminished mental functioning.

In short; worms, cancer, fungus, bacteria, and parasites eat you up from the inside out.

Just say "no" to adultery.

AIDS isn't the only danger for gay men:

Authorities said Tuesday that they are investigating the death of an Arkansas man found in an unfilled hot tub with a sleeping TV meteorologist.

Maumelle police were summoned Monday morning to the home where they found Dexter Williams' body in the hot tub.

The homeowner told authorities that Williams and the meteorologist, Brett Cummins of Little Rock television station KARK, had been at his home Sunday night. The homeowner said the next morning, he found Cummins asleep in the hot tub and Dexter Williams next to him. Williams' face was discolored and he had with a chain around his neck, police said. The hot tub was not filled with water.

Maumelle police Lt. Jim Hansard said investigators haven't ruled out foul play in the death of Williams, 24, of Mountain Pine. An autopsy is being conducted on Williams' body.

Cummins spoke with authorities, but police declined to release his statement, citing the ongoing investigation. He has not been charged in Williams' death and no arrests had been made by Tuesday evening.

Cummins did not respond to a phone message left Tuesday.

Mike Vaughn, the general manager for KARK, said Cummins reported to work Monday. He said the station had received the police report about Williams' death and was working to figure out what happened, but he declined to comment further.

KARK reported on Williams' death in a post on its website and added that Cummins "will not be on the air as he is mourning the loss of his friend."

He had a 4 octave voice, the more I look into the man the more I respect him. His raw vocal cord nodule was uncommon.
A vocal cord nodule is a mass of tissue that grows on the vocal folds (vocal cords). Typically, this mass will appear on the junction of the anterior and middle two-thirds of the vocal fold, where contact is most forceful.
He was a freak.
He ain't heavy, he's my brother.

Queen was my first concert. Freddie Mercury was amazing to hear and watch. He inspired me to be more open-minded about music and explore opera. Loved him.

When I'm dead, I want to be remembered as a musician of some worth and substance. Freddie Mercury.

Nice to see people remember him as he wished.

75??? WOW! i loved and revered Buddy. remember the day he was killed, "the day the music died." though i was a little kid. i have everything he ever did on vinyl, a lot of obscure and great stuff. he was brilliant.

Los Angeles (CNN) -- Buddy Holly finally got his star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame on Wednesday, which would have been the singer-songwriter's 75th birthday.

"It's never too late when you get a fantastic thing to happen," his widow, Maria Elena Holly, told CNN after unveiling the star on the sidewalk along Vine Street at the entrance to the historic Capitol Records building.

Holly was just 22 when he was killed in a plane crash, along with musicians Ritchie Valens and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson.

"I'm saying now, my dear Buddy, you loved to go to the movies. You told me that one of your dreams was to write scores for movies and make your mark in Hollywood," his widow said during the ceremony. "Well, my dear, half of your dream unfortunately did not come true, but the other half did come true with a beautiful star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame."

Actor Gary Busey, who channeled Holly's voice and character in the 1978 movie "The Buddy Holly Story," attended the dedication.

"He's here right now," Busey said. "I feel his spirit in the air. It's beautiful."

What would Holly be doing now if he were still alive?

"Anything he wanted to," Busey said. "Scoring movies, helping people in different countries who are in trouble, like writing a song for them and taking it over there and singing it to them."

Busey is working with T Bone Burnett on an album of Holly songs, which he said he would also perform in a tour.

The Hollywood star ceremony was timed to coincide with this week's release of "Listen to Me: Buddy Holly," a tribute album of his songs performed by 16 artists, including Ringo Starr, Stevie Nick, Brian Wilson, Jackson Browne, Chris Isaak, Linda Ronstadt and Lyle Lovett.

Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers, a contemporary of Holly, also attended the dedication.
