It can't happen too soon, The USPS is one of the biggest money wasters and largest unions that the government has ever produced.

You can't raise the cost of stamp to payoff your debt.

It's like obama trying to raise taxes to pay off the national debt, it can't be done.

They need to down size and down size very fast and very deep to survive.

They are in trouble because of their huge pension plan, they don't have the money to pay, just like every government run business they don't know what a budget is or how to stay within it.

This is what happens when a government entity pays out more for retirement benifits than they can pay. Had those employees contributed to a 401K plan they would not be in such dire straights. This is what I do not understand. How does something come from nothing? Nothing but promises.

Why would the video say "When Bush was president" when it was a Democratic congress that passed it?

Oh well, at least there wasn't as much partisanship back then:

Danny Davis [D-IL7]

John McHugh [R-NY23]

Henry Waxman [D-CA30]

haha

I like having a post office. If we didn't have the post office policing things, people would send dead puppies through the mail. You know they would.

OK, I don't get it. The USPC claims to be loosing money, but what do they do to make more money? Forever Stamps...so you can stock up before the rates go up.
And what about those single rate "If it fits, it ships" boxes? How do they plan to make money???

Well IMO, it seems having "75" years of advance pension funds available within the next 10 years is rather absurd. It would be more reasonable if it were like 10 to 15 years in advance.
Anyway, as for selling "forever stamps", is just a way for the PO to make money "up front". As many including myself, buy them in quantity, to avoid future increase. As for the flat rate boxes, it's just another PO gimmick to get money up front. Because if the item you are mailing is "not" really heavy (not up to 70 lbs) and is only 5 or 6 lbs and fits into that box (the box give you free) it's the same $15. Whereas, if you put that same 6lbs in a plain box, the cost is less than half the $15. And Yes, there is some trimming that needs to done at the PO as well.

Don't worry cracker, we don't need the government to send mail, private business can do it better and more economically.

I wonder what private company will get the US gov't business? I'm sure they send out a ton of damn checks to people every month. Maybe they will just go electronic...

If I have a problem getting/sending mail, I know who to call. I don't have to depend on Jose to try decipher English to get a package to me.

I am pro USPS. The problems started when Congress started to interfere too much.

The problems started when they collective bargained their stupid asses bankrupt.

The Post master geneneral already said that was the problem, it's the pension fund that is unfunded and tearing the doors off the rest of the gigantic, blaoted, government run postal service.

I say fuckem, now they want to cut services to cut costs the stupid fuckers, get ready for no mail on saturday, and the cost of PO boxes to go up and stamps to go up, holy fuck these assholes are stupid.
