I'm not talking about the public defender that got you off on probation. I mean one that you use for financial advice, estate planning, bankruptcy ect... If someone threatened to sue you for example, could you just hand over a card and say "talk to my lawyer"?

I've had a lawyer or two for specific purposes, but never one I could just call to say "Hey I need some services here." The few times I've tried I always got referred elsewhere or told they didn't specialize in fill-in-the-blank. I don't think there really are allpurpose lawyers any more, are there?

Nope. Nobody on retainer but I would/could find one in a minute if I needed one. My husband's family are almost all lawyers.

Yeah, I guess that's just in the movies. Gone are the days where you could find a good lawyer to handle all your problems AND snort a few lines with on the weekends.

oh i don't know. the best criminal lawyer i know, and a very close friend who fits that description, he's in Daytona. Smiley_emoticons_biggrin up north half the year.

If I need a lawyer, I know where to get one. She's not a catch-all sort of lawyer but can refer me to others specifically for what I need.
