Yeah. I've seen Duchess get pissed about this before so I knew.

I think RG should have shut up when Duchess told him to but ultimately I think it should be LC's decision whether she wants to be treated like any other member or if she'd prefer to stay out of the fray because she's got her hands full as moderator and running the crime forum. All you fuckers are talking about LC as if she doesn't have a voice in this.

The other thing I'll mention is that LC rarely slams anyone (at least not for the last year or two) and she's very capable. It's not like she's out there calling people dumb fucks left and right and then expecting to be treated with kid gloves. Except for the occasional jab here and there, she doesn't typically take off the gloves so it's sort of weird when someone jumps down her throat over absolutely nothing.

Maybe there is more to this banning than what we read on the open forum. Whatever is going on or went on sucks because we lost another member. But I don't want to see anyone give LC shit either. She does a lot of hard work on this site and that needs to be respected.

On Mock I have seen people go at each other like crazy monkees in a locked car. Usually they end up stepping out with a little more respect for each other and everything is OK.

i really don't know what the wild hair across his ass was about, but he is of no consequence. i saw no point in engaging him except back on aug. 26 when he was foul and vile in an elderly lady's birthday thread. maybe that was it. i had every right as a member to call him out on it. he revealed his manhood and intelligence there. so he couldn't find any other way to attack me than the random pointless drive-by post.

i can only recall very few times i have gone off on anyone in this incarnation of Mock. and then usually after being provoked to the nth degree. sometimes a little tweak is in order.

i want to make it clear that Duchess is a sweetheart who does not like her sidekick/online partner abused. i feel the same about her and many other people here. i am not immune from being mocked. it's all in the intent, circumstances and subject. a mock should contain a bit of wit also. i don't consider myself 'special'.

remember i took tons of abuse and much worse in real life on my job. from real badasses trying to kill me. not adolescent-minded trolls. they are worthy of scorn and contempt only. my body armor is intact.

Let me reiterate, the rules were written with intelligent people in mind, if you're someone who is going to nitpick and basically ask how big of an asshole can you be before it comes to a banning then you're never going to fit in here.

Mock is segregated. I don't want just anyone in my real life neighborhood & the same applies to Mock. I type that knowing it will be an unpopular comment, some people are good enough, others will never be. That's just a general comment and not directed towards any one person.

Of course there is a difference, no self-respecting troll will state otherwise.
OTOH, it is oh so very easy to just label over-the-top or inconvenient behavior "troll" and be done with it without a second thought. That's a slippery slope, one I've seen quite a number of board owners / staff get onto when they get tired of dealing with non-conforming individuals.

I have no idea what Gear's reasons were, but neither do you. If there was no behind-the scenes communication, as you said, then you most certainly don't know if he tried to troll, had a real bad day, bore LC a grudge, felt too secure in his position to realize you meant business, or whatever other reason one might come up with. This means, basically, you got pissed off by his behaviour and him ignoring your warnings, so you banned him. That's cool, it's your board. What I don't like is people in charge using the troll card when there is no indication that this was the intended purpose.

As for nitpicking - I, for once, just want to be perfectly clear what goes and what doesn't. I've never been to a mock site, or a flame site, or whatever else there is (I AM familiar with trolling, hence my adversion against false labels), and I have not read the majority of threads in here, so I actually DO have to ask questions about where the line is. I wasn't pissed yesterday. I firmly believe he knew exactly what he was doing. He's a bright guy & I'm certain he knows where my head is at regarding trolling but he choose to ignore it & that's his choice.

I don't want a site filled with like minded people, I would be bored out of my mind. There is always going to be someone who wants to put a little extra oomph into their push & I expect that. I don't ban people that I don't like, I simply don't interact with them. I said recently that Mock is an obscure little forum, not the United Nations or a Fortune500 company. I don't take much of this seriously at all and I don't like having to step in when the shit is going down, it's best left for the Members to deal with in their own way but that's not always possible. I don't like to be serious in here & I don't like being forced to.

The difference between clever mockery and bland pooflinging is pretty clear. If even the target can appreciate and laugh at it it's viable. Speaking from personal experience, in pre-internet days we called it "capping" or playing the dozens, and if one of the opponents resorted to "fuck you you're stupid" he'd immediately be declared the loser and laughed off the playground. It's bad form to resort to banality, and it's bad form to deliberately antagonize the host just because your noise got out of joint.
