Not all the newbie threads were locked once access was granted but someone had some spare time and went and locked them all. One or two were missed though and are still open.

I think the other reason was they were kind of forced to lock newbie threads because there are more morons who can't figure the program out and would start posting in other newbie topics instead of making their own to gain access.
Sad when you have to lock down the place and force people to fucking pay attention.
