Interesting. I didn't know "Sioux" meant snake. In the Paiute Shoshone tribes, some of their traditional names also mean "the people." I'm thinking there were the people, the animals, the land, and the spirits. If my tribe were the only tribe around, I would name it "the people," too. Unless it was Dick's tribe, then I would name it "the assholes."
