This is a gooseneck trailer. I'm familiar with them because many of the larger horse trailers are goosenecks.

The difference between a goose neck and a 5th wheel is the goose neck uses a ball and coupler. heh. Ball and coupler. hah The 5th wheel has a kingpin.
