I saw a hawk flying away with a squirrel as I was walking home from work through the park. The hawk dropped the squirrel as soon as it saw smoke looking at it.

You can see it better if you slow it down. Didn't really swallow him, just scooped him up with it's mouth and spit him out. A rare occurrence, improbably captured on video. Very cool.

That fricken hawk is back. He was sitting right above one of the feeders. I'm usually very understanding of nature and what goes on it. but this hawk is buggin' the shit out of me.

If we were neighbors I’d lend you my dog. She’s just big enough that I don’t worry about birds of prey and she chases and barks at them like they’re the devil (and literally…they don’t land on our property—if she’s out). It annoys me sometimes (and I wouldn’t mind some help with rodent control and we have a nesting box for owls on our property put in by the prior owners that will likely never get a resident) but then sometimes it’s easy/free exercise for the dog—sending her after the hawks and stuff. Little birds don’t trigger her thankfully (and they don’t seem to care about her). We have lots of small bird nests around.

I’m sitting in my car doing exactly this (nothing) near a pond just because I was going out of my mind at home but I need to sit on my ass for a while because my foot is aching (overdoing it with the damn walking boot just doing shit around the house). So pathetic.

My friend is pet sitting and the cat brought a dead squireel in the house and then when I was over for dinner and after we had all eaten the cat just comes in with a dead mouse. I was sort of laughing but my friends were a little horrified.
