DO YOU NEED PEOPLE AROUND? - Duchess - 05-22-2013

I have a friend who likes having a full house all the time, she doesn't mind people stopping in without calling first, she never minds cooking for a crowd, she's in her element when her home borders on chaos while I on the other hand don't mind being alone. I enjoy my own company, I can't recall the last time I was lonely or bored.

Do you need the presence of others to be happy or fulfilled or whatever name one wants to give it?

nah i'm very self sufficient, I like company on my own terms.

I like to have gatherings but am not a fan of having people around all the time. For example, we got a swimming pool a few years ago. My husband thinks it's fine to tell his family they are welcome to come over and swim whenever they want. Nothing pisses me off more than when I get home from work and there are other people at my home in MY pool. Not a fan. If we invite you over for an occasion, sure, but don't make it an all the time thing.

Who the heck would do the dishes? And what about the laundry?

Sounds like free pool cleaning to me.

I've always been comfortable in my own company I've never been the lonely type. I enjoy family life and enjoy sometimes spending time with close friends but I need time on my own sometimes.

I don't like people. Go away.

Nothing even close! They never put things back the way they found them. Have popped several of our floats. Bring their dogs and leave their shit(literally) in the yard.

Why would you put up with that shit?

I like a round people, a square people, a short, a tall...you name it.

50 cheezy...

Unannounced visits are not for me (even my neighbors call out over the fence to check before coming over), and I don't drop in on others unannounced.

I like/need a lot of alone time outside of work and don't get bored, but then really enjoy people when I go out to play or have visitor(s).

RE: DO YOU NEED PEOPLE AROUND? - Midwest Spy - 05-22-2013

I am, for all intents and purposes, an only child (my sister was born when I was 10).

So, I've had a ton of alone time. While I enjoy having a wife and kids, I do wish I had more time to myself.

My wife, on the other hand, has 2 sisters very close in age and proximity to her.

Seems like they're always over, or I'll get the call at work, 'Hey, you don't mind if so & so comes over tonight, do you?'

RE: DO YOU NEED PEOPLE AROUND? - Cynical Ninja - 05-22-2013

Thankfully my sisters in law live frigging miles away thank God.

As you can imagine they fucking loooooove me!

RE: DO YOU NEED PEOPLE AROUND? - Clang McFly - 05-22-2013

I enjoy spending my time alone but rarely get alone time. Parents always bugging me with this and that and when I want to do an activity alone my mom is always like, "Why don't you invite your younger brother along?" I have some discernment activities(evening prayer, priest ordination(not mine), and newly ordained priest's first Mass) coming up in June and my mom was like "Why don't you see if it would be ok if your brother could attend?

I wish I had a choice. If I say anything my husband gets pissed. It's his parents and sister. Luckily being pregnant, I can be a raging bitch and use the hormone excuse this summer. I fully intend to do just that!

Your husband should cut the cord a little and grow up. He has his own family now and should show a little respect to that.

I like people and am very social but I need my down time too.

RE: DO YOU NEED PEOPLE AROUND? - Duchess - 05-22-2013

When I wasn't working I loved having a full house & entertained weekly, big parties, I have two dishwashers for christssake but now I couldn't really care any less than I already do about throwing parties or even just having a few friends over. I'll have small pool parties throughout the summer & we open our home to our friends on Sundays during football season but that's pretty much the extent of my social life these days. I don't want to be bothered. Smiley_emoticons_slash

You're preaching to the choir!!! Problem is he hates confrontation and avoids it at all costs. I, on the other hand, enjoy a little confrontation and have no problem addressing these kind of things. It's an ongoing battle.

You have my sympathy RaisingAPrince, how awful to come home and find the in-laws in the pool. I liked Jimbone's response a man should cleave unto his wife. They really should telephone you up and ask if it is suitable to use the pool.
