RE: Presidential race 2016 - Carsman - 11-13-2016 Don't mess with the Trumps kids! Chris Christie is out, and Mike Pence is in. The New Jersey governor will no longer head Donald Trump's transition team into the White House. And it's reportedly due — at least in part — to a feud between Christie and a Trump family member. RE: Presidential race 2016 - aussiefriend - 11-13-2016 ^that's so fucked up. It's early days and already looking like a dictatorship. RE: Presidential race 2016 - Duchess - 11-14-2016 I just saw a headline saying fuckface has chosen the white supremacist as his chief policy advisor and intends to install him within feet of the oval office. RE: Presidential race 2016 - HairOfTheDog - 11-14-2016 That last one made me laugh too. This isn't a spoof or anything, but it made me smile when I saw it published today. Uncle Joe Biden when he was a young man. Nice! RE: Presidential race 2016 - sally - 11-14-2016 I thought the first one was funny. Joe Biden's young picture reminds me of Six's young picture. They have the same smile. RE: Presidential race 2016 - username - 11-14-2016 (11-11-2016, 10:40 PM)BlueTiki Wrote:(11-11-2016, 06:32 PM)username Wrote: I like the protests. One thing that happened to Obama (and it was the first time in history that I know of) is that he was viscerally hated by many before he even took office. It dogged him throughout both terms. And I mean HATED. I don't think George was AS hated for near as long as Obama. Most people got over the election mess and gave Bush a chance in office. IIRC, he wasn't vilified until the last few years of his administration. At least I don't recall "hating" on him until those last years when WMD's were found not to exist etc. My belief (in hindsight) is that it's probably better Trump won. I think Hillary would have ran into the same obstructionism and "she can't do anything right" mentality that Obama faced. I hope Trump runs into that same immovable resistance and criticism for a time. Turn about and all that but my real wish is for a 3rd party candidate. Trump OR Hillary...neither have the ability to meet people like me in the middle of the road. RE: Presidential race 2016 - BigMark - 11-15-2016 Bullshit, Obama failed like Carter, our world outlook suffered just the same. Carter was a do nothing President; u can't say the same about Obama. Why, he deported more illegal immigrants in his first term than George did in his entire 8 years. Matter of fact: "How does he compare to other presidents? According to governmental data, the Obama administration has deported more people than any other president's administration in history. In fact, they have deported more than the sum of all the presidents of the 20th century." I have trouble posting links from my phone. The preceding was from an August 29,2016 article: ABC.go.com or something. Carter is a horrible and totally inaccurate comparison, idjut. And please contrast and compare the economy Carter inherited (not to mention the wars) as opposed to Obama and how he performed under conditions when he took office. Dummy. RE: Presidential race 2016 - aussiefriend - 11-15-2016 BBH, I was at a party once and there were all types of people there. This friend had a wide range of friends. This guy had a few to drink and was looking to get into it politically with someone. I was sitting talking to this guy and I just didn't go there. Just refrain from engaging in politics if it causes animosity. The guy i was talking about found someone to argue with an ABC doco film director she was shouting at him "the Queen dickhead" referring to her interfering in Oz politics in the 70s. It's not worth it sometimes. You have to stay silent to avoid the conflict and unnecessary frustration that comes from these discussions. Stay cool say nothing. RE: Presidential race 2016 - username - 11-15-2016 What????? I "lost" a friend about 8 years ago (when Obama was first elected) during a long drive where she revealed her REAL thoughts about niggers in the White House taking over, the spics stealing jobs blah, blah. I basically said "ummm, we're not going to agree about most of this so why don't we talk about something else"? I tolerated the rest of the ride up and back with her and then promptly threw her out of my life like yesterday's trash. We're acquaintances now which suits me just fine. RE: Presidential race 2016 - aussiefriend - 11-16-2016 This was at a party, I didn't know the person that came over and looked like he was baiting me and the person I was with for a political argument. I was at a party, there for a good time and didn't have the energy to get into it with someone who see's that kind of stuff as fun. He found a victim who took the bait soon after. RE: Presidential race 2016 - Maggot - 12-04-2016 In search of........... RE: Presidential race 2016 - Duchess - 12-04-2016 That was great! I hope she's taking nature walks, buying/reading books and playing with her grandchildren. Like me, I'm sure she's looking forward to saying, I told you so. Hehehe. Hi Aussie: For some reason, I am just now reading this...I have had a lot of distractions lately and I think being vocal about my value system helps me deal with the "serious" shit going on in the background. You advice makes sense, but until my dying breath, I will never be quiet about the injustices in our Country, never........I hate that we are so divided here and that such a truly unqualified POS like DT is going to be President of the US....It is embarrassing, and to those of us who went through the civil rights movement, it is like doomsday to go backwards in time. So guess I will never shut my mouth about some things, because I think it is worth it.....that is similar to the people in Germany in the 30's not speaking up and maintaining their collective silence. I believe we have an obligation to speak up when we see injustices happen to some of our citizens....I still think DT will take this country down faster than a blink of an eye and no, I don't want to give him a chance to do that. *gets down off soapbox...... But, you are right, if I am at a party and some drunk tries to engage me in a political debate, I would probably just take another sip of my vodka and tonic (with twist of lime), and tell him to fuck off.......
