Why in the world would we need an anti-lynching law? That's a serious question. It's murder! There must be something I'm not understanding. What is it?

Perpetrators of a lynching - death or injury resulting from a hate crime - will face up to 30 years in jail.
The bill was passed unanimously in the Senate earlier this month. The House had voted overwhelmingly in support of the legislation last month.
Three Republicans voted no: Thomas Massie of Kentucky, Chip Roy of Texas and Andrew Clyde of Georgia. They argued that it was already a hate crime to lynch people in the US.

It's a feel good law. Very much like when politicians rush to add more gun laws after a major mass shooting.
It also adds an additional charge to the arrest. Whenever the popo arrest someone, they charge the perp with as many violations as possible in hopes of having something stick.
I once knew a guy that was charged with 'abuse of an animal ' because he tripped over a chicken while running away from a keg party that was busted.

Another LEA/prosecution scam is the violation of probation for being charged. They get away with this shit because most of us are too ignorant to recognize corruption.
