Applebot is a search engine that Siri uses and is owned by Apple.

No, it's my understanding that it's an in-house (Apple) web crawler. It's all over the the internet searching for any & all information that might be asked for through Siri. It doesn't need to be requested, it just stores the information until such time, if ever, it's asked for.
