I have "friends" who have been out of work for over a year and "friends" who found a job the next week. Sometimes beggars can't be choosers. If I lost my position in my chosen field, I would do (and have done) what I have to do to keep the ship afloat. I wouldn't sit on my ass looking to make as much money as I did before. I would take whatever was available and keep looking. People fuck themselves when they decide to take a mini-vacation for even one day when they lose their job. You can't do that shit.
Pay for your house first. Then basic food items, then electric/gas/water, then car, then all that extra crap you want. How hard is that? Because really, anything else IS extra.
Your medical liability is limited if you invest in insurance like the rest of us. I effen hate paying that much every month, but I do it so I can avoid financial ruin. I have more than one kind of insurance because life can fuck you any number of ways. People don't want to pay on the front end, so they take a chance. Sometimes they lose.
