I agree that at some point, we have to take responsibility for ourselves but I feel badly for these kids--they're fucked from the gate and they don't even know it.
oppressed people who spend generations in that state forget how to achieve, the parents don't know so they can't teach their kids, even if they want more for them, they have no way to impart that desire to them.
It's a learned response not a genetic mutation that causes generational poverty.
