I do not think that school is a "social" experiment. Maybe I should have used another word other than socializing. Just like any vocation they may later have in life, they have to learn to get along with others, accept differences in others, realize that everyone's opinion differs, respect different races, learn teamwork, etc. We all know that this is important throughout life.
I should mention that my school is a "melting pot" for lack of a better word. It consists of the wealthiest, those on welfare, Whites - Blacks - Hispanics - Chinese - Japanese, two-parent families, one-parent families, straight parents, homosexual parent(s), mentally or physically handicapped, etc. Plus remember, my only experience is with elementary kids in a one-horse town with a population of approximately 6,000.
