ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Police in Altamonte Springs are searching for a missing 4-year-old boy and his grandmother.
Police said 43-year-old Ramona McCoy and her grandson, 4-year-old Christian Longhurst went for a walk on Tuesday night, but they haven't been heard from since.
Christian's mother, Brandy Steadman, said she has no idea where her family could be. She is now on a desperate search to find her missing son and her mother.
"We went to the beach yesterday. Everything was fine when we left to go to work no one is here,” said Steadman.
While Steadman was at Cocoa Beach, she said McCoy sent her a text message, telling her she was taking Christian for a walk. The two were last seen around 8:30pm, a few blocks from the Landings Apartment complex in Altamonte Springs near Sandlake Road and State Road 434. McCoy has custody of Christian and they live with Steadman.
Police said McCoy's car is still in the apartment complex and her keys are on the counter.
“He's so cute and adorable and everybody loves him,” said Steadman.
Police went door to door Wednesday asking for help to track the two down.
Justin Peeple, who is Steadman’s boyfriend, told WFTV McCoy just had a bad break-up.
"Grandmother just broke up with a boyfriend, and I'm not sure what went on there, but I heard there's something bad," Peeples said.
“Really good kid sweet lovable,” said Peeples.
Police aren’t calling the disappearance suspicious, but neighbor’s said they think it is. Officers and Steadman are hoping the two show up soon.
Police are still actively searching for the two on Thursday.
