LC is it possible for them to lift fingerprints from a cell phone that was found in water?

after all this time i doubt it. and if the surface is real smooth as it appears, prints may not adhere. that water is likely salt and fresh mixed (brackish) & somewhat corrosive.
IF her ex's prints were on it, it is easily explained anyway.
or it could have been wiped, then tossed over the side of bridge.

note: i guess anything is possible!
