I know of people who come from impeccable backgrounds, wonderful parents, many opportunities, educated and they are complete fuckups so I'm not buying that theory at all. It works both ways, you can have a crap life and grow up to make something of yourself.

I think the point is made by the ⁸⁰⁄₂₀ rule
80% of the kids coming from a great background turn out to be good people.
20% of the kids coming from a shitty place turn out to be good people.
People only acquire personal responsibility if they:
A. Know it exists
B. Are taught how to get there
