So what's the deal with the East/West split. I spoke to a Canadian woman one time who felt very strongly that the border ought to be drawn north south. In fact, I had to walk away to get her to shut up about it. What gives?

I think of you guys as a US commonwealth so I don't care either way, but she put a whole lot of energy into complaining about something. Not sure what.
