I wish I shared your confidence, sweetie.
First off Judge nelson is good. She is smart and goes by the law.
Zimmerman cannot win on an Immunity hearing because he pursued and provoked the entire tragedy. So Zimmerman is what is called the "initial aggressor".
He chased after the kid. The SYG law excludes the statute for someone who was the initial aggressor. So no immunity for Georgie. Even his lawyer admits it.
But, he can still go for self-defense at trial, and the jury can find that the it was a justifiable homicide. Or some lesser included like manslaughter.
I agree. Zimmerman's lawyer, O'Mara, isn't even claiming a Stand Your Ground defense at this point. He is just using the self-defense immunity (from prosecution) hearing opportunity that was put into effect when the Stand Your Ground law was passed, if I understand correctly.
The immunity hearing is slated for April 22nd and immunity will be denied; this is going to trial, imo.

Next week, Tuesday 3/5/13, will be a hearing regarding O'Mara's desire to obtain footage from ABC television. I'm not sure if it's in relation to Zimmerman and his brother's ill-conceived tv appearances early on (maybe the prosecution plans to use the originals?) or if the defense is after some other discovery related to ABC.
Do you know, Adub? Here's the very brief court doc.
