I'd rather be outside than in a gym but I sweat my ass off in the summer and freeze in the winter. And I have to do it right after work. If I go home first I may not make it back out, love being at home.
Do you have any equipment at home? You have to mix the walking with something else that is a little harder on your muscles. I do Tabata or light resistance a few days a week.
You should do something. If you aren't a gym person, I'm not, do something else. Excercise has a profound effect on your cells, it makes them live longer. Middle-aged people need to think about that because your cells change the more they replicate.
