This story has fucked with my head so bad. Ethan's Dad loved him & wanted him yet the courts forced him to give Ethan to his killers. That's more than I can wrap my mind around.

That's the thing I don't get either. There had to be some sort of signs that these two POS's were "off". I'd be interested to know what kind of investigation is done when determining which parent gets custody rights (if any). Do they do any kind of psychological testing?
