Media is reporting that neighbors had called the police to report suspicious behavior at Castro's house; including one that specifically reported what seemed to be a woman being held against her will.
LE went to the home in response to that call, knocked on the door for approximately 8 minutes, and then left.
Amanda Berry's mother apparently died of a heart attack 3 years after her disappearance.
Side note: This is similar to what happened in Jaycee Dugard's case. Garrudo, her abductor, was a convicted felon who was visited regularly by parole officers, and neighbors had also called police to report suspicious activity. Still, none of these authorities checked the back yard where Jaycee (and later her daughters fathered by Garrudo) were being held.
