There are always people who come out of the woodwork for their 15 minutes whenever something garnering national/global attention breaks. Only a fool regards whatever every unauthorized/unverified "witness" proclaims to be gospel.
I'm certain you see the same attention-seeking behavior tied to tragedies in the UK too. Certain of it. I watch global news (and read the sub-titles).
I won't be surprised if the police dropped the ball in this case; it's happened before. They may even have been so incompetent as to be successfully sued over it. But, I wanna hear from someone other than the block gossips before presuming to know what went down.
