Mark Bridger, accused of abducting and murdering 5 year old April Jones in the Welsh town of Machynlleth on the 1st of october 2012, has just been found guilty of murder, child abduction and perverting the course of justice.
The jury took just four hours to reach their guilty verdict.
Bridger claimed he accidentally ran over April in his off road vehicle and then panicked when left with her dead body. He claimed he couldn't remember what he had done with her body because he was drunk and in a state of panic. Depsite a 7 month extensive search Aprils body has never been found.
The prosecution said Bridger had photographs of local schoolgirls on his computer along with photographs of other high profile young female murder victims. He also had indecent images of children on his hard drive.
Aprils DNA was found in small bloodstains on Bridgers living room floor and tiny fragments of a childs skull were found in his fireplace.
Police described Bridger as a “dangerous and cold blooded paedophile” who wouldn't reveal the location of Aprils remains because “he wanted to maintain some kind of control”.
He is set to be sentenced later this afternoon.
