Yep, I don't think Oprah should have assumed the sales clerk was racist (whether she is or not) and mentioned the incident publicly if it wasn't a big deal, much less labeling it a "racist" incident with no facts to back up that contention.
Had the clerk known of Oprah or her net worth, that Crocodile bag would have been in front of her face to view in two seconds flat. I don't really buy "trying to be kind" as the reason for suggesting lesser expensive products; the store probably just doesn't want it to get damaged or ripped off and only shows it to those who they know or assume have the money to buy it.
