Even if you are armed, the chances of you 'outdrawing' someone who's intent on shooting you, are pretty slim.
For example, one of yesterday's initial victims was a security guard. I'm guessing he was armed, but had no chance as the perp pulled his gun first.
So, as I stated after Sandy Hook, it really comes down to hopefully being lucky enough to never be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Unless someone wants to live as a shut in, which most of us wouldn't want to do.
