RENZ GETS IN LIFE IN PRISON AND MORE SOCIALIZATION IN EXCHANGE FOR HIS PLEA
This case has really stuck with me -- so brutal and so preventible -- too many system errors made it too easy for Renz to butcher a mother and rape her little girl.
There's no death penalty in New York state, but federal prosecutors threatened to charge the POS with federal crimes and seek the death penalty, so Renz took a plea deal and confessed all. In return, the death penalty was taken off the table and he gets to be in a prison unit where he has contact with some other inmates (he'd been held in a cell by himself up til now). Sentencing was handed down yesterday.
According to reports, after Renz was arrested, the other inmates constantly harassed him and punched him in the nose because of the nature of his crimes (and possibly because of his appearance, as well).
I wish he'd gotten no consideration whatsoever, but do understand the benefits of avoiding a long costly trial and sparing the little girl from having to relive the nightmare. I hope she's doing okay.

. Renz stabbed mom to death in her car as she tried to protect her little girl from being raped by the convicted pedophile (who'd removed his ankle bracelet and triggered an alarm which was not followed-up on).
