Well, it's hard to see much of anything in the dark, that's true. That's why you don't just point and shoot in the direction of a noise you hear in the dark.
"She thought there was an intruder. She had no way of knowing [it] was only her grandson" -- I completely disagree with this statement made by, naturally, a criminal defense attorney.
Of course she had a way of knowing. She was sleeping with the kids, FFS. She coulda felt around or said, "dat you Tyler, dat you TylerTwin?" And Tyler would have had the opportunity to say, "yeah, grams, I'm bout ready to pee my pants if I can't get this chair up out the way".
If she'd done that instead of being reckless and negligent, she wouldn't have shot him that night and he wouldn't be in critical condition in a hospital bed.
