(Apparently, they wanted to make a ton of $$$$ on their high interest loan)
That's insane. In the old days they'd give you a better deal for cash.
We financed my last car only because the rate was so low, 0.1% or something, my financial manager husband said he could make more money on the dollars leaving them in our account as opposed to paying out the cash. It's not always better to pay cash.
