The expert should actually look at the video up in post #8, the kids hands are not in his pockets, they are in front of his body and he has the gun in his right hand. I agree that there was no time for a meaningful exchange between the cop and the kid. The difference between 1 second and 1.7 seconds is ridiculous and cannot possibly make any difference.
This thing ran off the rails when the dispatcher left out the part about the gun possibly being fake, then the cop rolled right up on top of the kid way too close and put his partner in immediate peril if the suspect did in fact have a real gun.
The cop that actually shot was the passenger side guy right? When he got out of the car he was already in the strike zone. Firing would have been a very tough call, because the kid gun in hand was what looks like 6 or 8 feet away right on top of him.
Then all the lieing and covering up bullshit started and they Really fucked up.
IMO, the driver is most at fault, he put his partner in danger, he should have stopped well before he was right on top of the kid.
