A suspect attacked several people with a knife at Ohio State University this morning, sending eight to ten people to hospitals and prompting a campus-wide lockdown, authorities said.
The suspect was shot dead by police. Authorities on the ground believe the threat is contained, said a law enforcement official briefed on the latest information.
The people hospitalized have non-life-threatening injuries except for one who is reportedly in critical condition, according to officials at three local hospitals.
OSU Emergency Management has lifted a 'Run Hide Fight' and shelter-in-place alert and cancelled classes for the day.
Investigators believe the assailant also used a car at the beginning of the attack, and the entire attack happened outside near the Chemical Engineering Building.
OSU is one of the largest campuses is the country, with enrollment over 40,000. The suspect has not yet been identified and no motive is yet known.
